I worked at a grassroots police station for eight years.
In eight years, I have met all kinds of people. Some came to call the police, some were brought in, and some walked in on their own, sat down, and said nothing, sitting there all afternoon.
Most of their cases are not major cases. A child who steals things, an old man who gets lost, an adult who breaks down and cries late at night. Case filing, mediation, case closing, and filing. The material is closed, but the person remains in my mind.
There are no thrilling captures or meticulous reasoning in this book. Only those people who were stamped with official seals and had numbers still stand vividly in my mind.
They don't make the news, they don't make the reports. But they came, they struggled, they reached out to me.
I remember it for them.
Purpose: Every case file is a conclusion, but the person behind each conclusion is far more complicated than the conclusion.
