This is an ukiyo-e about "living".
The story takes place under an ordinary roof - here there are white-collar workers in the city who are in dilemma between childbirth and career; there are also refugee mothers who are far away across the ocean and looking for a way out for their children in the ruins; there are young lovers who are struggling between housing prices and dignity, and there are ordinary people who are breathing between artillery fire and peace.
A stray tortoiseshell cat walked through it. It was a silent bystander, watching the warmth and coldness of the world. It doesn't understand human wars and strategies. It only remembers who gave it a mouthful of warm milk and who protected a weak life in despair.
When the sighs of modern women intersect with the smoke and dust of distant battlefields, the echoes of history are faintly heard under the eaves. Those are the whispers of female politicians from the other side of the long river of time who have been at the center of the whirlpool of power. They are also the lingering sounds of the former pioneers of this land examining the present. They did not mention names, but with thousands of years of experience, they gave the most complex footnotes on the tenacity and struggle of all living beings under their roof, regardless of gender or species.
All living beings are suffering, but the reverence and tenderness for life under the eaves penetrates the past and present, and continues forever.
The idea: to use the dim light of history to illuminate the tenacity and glimmer of all life under the roof of the present.
