"Silent Rain"
A silent rain, two mutilated teenagers, a past that has never been spoken.
In his sophomore year of high school, Wen Xiao ran into Yan Xie on the street, who had never heard from him. He was still wearing the same blue and white school uniform, with a fair side face, but his left eye was dull. Wen Xiao was sitting in a wheelchair, and his empty right leg reminded him that some injuries had been carved into his bones and blood, and he could never look back.
Not all reunions after a long separation will lead to the burying of the hatchet.
They chatted calmly, like two polite and distant strangers. But when Yan Xie squatted down and said the words "It's all over", Wen Xiao realized that the real farewell is to cover everything that should be said and that should not be silenced, and never lift it again.
Many years later, he found a yellowed note in an old Chinese book with Yan Xie's handwriting on it: I forgive you, Wen Xiao.
He had already written down his answer many years ago. And he didn't receive it until now.
This is a story about trauma and reconciliation, loss and relief. About the courage to run to someone regardless of everything at the age of fifteen, and the regret of never being able to go back and love again after the age of eighteen. More about - some people are destined to digest all the pain alone in their own worlds before they can usher in a silent understanding at the end of time.
Intention: Some injuries cannot be apologized in person, and some forgiveness can only be written on paper.
Through the reunion of Wen Xiao and Yan Xie, the story explores another possibility of trauma and reconciliation - not all burying the hatchet happens in the moment of hugging and crying. More often than not, we each digest the pain alone for a long time, until one day, with a yellowed note and a word swallowed back in our mouth, we complete a farewell that only we know.
What is really heavy is never hatred, but the "I'm sorry" that can no longer be said - and the "It doesn't matter" that was received too late.
