"Onyx Blood"
A red agate in the Gobi Desert connects the fate of three generations spanning half a century.
In Mazong Mountain at the end of the Qing Dynasty, Batu Mengke, a poor mixed-race Mongolian and Han boy, grew up in the sand and humiliation. After his parents died, he went south alone to make a living. On the Chahan Tuohui beach on the bank of the Yellow River, he met Daolegen, the daughter of a Mongolian nobleman. This woman's ancestors came from Shanxi and had dual genes of Shanxi merchants and Horqin nobles flowing in her blood. Two young people with very different identities fell in love, but were forcibly separated by Dolegen's father. Batu Mengke fled to Alxa with his newborn daughter Nabuqi, and eventually died in a battle with the Helan Mountain horse bandits.
The gears of fate have not stopped turning. Nabuqi was forced to marry Ma Tingyun, the leader of the horse bandits, a Hui man who had studied in a private school and fell into disgrace due to family involvement. From resistance to love, they ignited another kind of human fireworks deep in Helan Mountain. As the anti-Japanese war broke out, the reckless couple led their troops down the mountain and completed their transformation from bandits to warriors in blood and fire.
When peace came, they settled in Laomancheng, Yinchuan, but in an ordinary spring, they unexpectedly reunited with the white-haired Dolergen. The red agate has long since disappeared, but the warmth in the blood has never been taken away by time.
This is written with the water of the Yellow River, the wind of the Gobi and the stones of the Helan Mountains. It is rough, deep and hot.
