"A Pond of Spring Water" is a love letter to the spring in Taipei in 2010, as well as a farewell letter. Only two men are written about in the whole story, Zuo Ye and Lun Xing. One is an idle writer who moved into an old apartment, and the other is a literary young man who lives next door and runs a cafe. The story begins with water leakage and ends when the pool water dries up. They soaked in the swimming pool on the roof of the abandoned building together, listened to the same thunderstorm, shared the back of the same door and spent countless sleepless mornings. But in the end, all that was left was a kiss on the palm of the other person's hand. The April rainy season in Taipei is so soaked that it looks like a roll of old film, as slow and moist as swimming in spring, ambiguously wrapped in the mist of the rainy season, and when it falls it is just the right drop of rain. The ending is like the copper plate at the bottom of the pool that is no longer reflective after the water dries up: when we turn back to the shore, the spring water in the pool has dried up. They once fell in love, but some water is destined to only remain in memories. A pool of spring water is everything you swim through.
