In April 1912, the Titanic set sail from Southampton, passing through Cherbourg and Queenstown, heading for the New World on the other side of the Atlantic.
Liz was an inconspicuous second-class passenger on this ship—nominally a business student at the University of Paris. Her letters home always wrote about accounts and the market. Only a few people knew that her real skills were the unrecognized patterns and sketches hidden in her sketchbooks.
An unexpected seasickness caused her to accidentally enter a deck that she should not have set foot on, and she also encountered a dispute that did not belong to her. She didn't know that that alienated and dangerous figure would reappear in front of her again and again during the subsequent voyage.
