In a world where magic and class strictness coexist, the people at the bottom spend all their money to send their children to magic schools in the hope of changing their destiny. Crowding is rampant in the college, and students from poor backgrounds are struggling, while the poor at the foot of the mountain support this high ivory tower with their blood and sweat.
"I" is an inconspicuous student in the academy, born with the rare "divine consciousness" magic - the ability to project consciousness to a designated range and observe everything that happens from a third perspective. The farther the distance, the greater the consumption. With this magic, "I" saw all the overt and covert fights in the academy, and never interfered. "I" am not cold-blooded, I just feel - so what if I saw it? Everyone has his own destiny, "I" is just a passer-by who happens to be able to look at it a few more times.
At the foot of the college mountain, there is a poor couple, Lin Changan and Zhou Man, who work odd jobs nearby to support their daughter in studying at the college. Sun Gui, the owner of the only grocery store at the foot of the mountain, is a middle-aged uncle who looks kind but is actually withdrawn. Their lives are as humble as ants, and they have no intersection with "me".
Until one muggy night.
"I" was bored and couldn't sleep, so I let my consciousness wander aimlessly, and happened to see Sun Gui and Zhou Man walking towards Zhou Man's dilapidated home. Out of a vague curiosity, "I" followed. That night, "I", as a bystander, witnessed tenderness, greed, betrayal and massacre - Sun Gui stole all the couple's savings from Zhou Man's backpack while she was sleeping. Zhou Man woke up and took an ax to seek revenge, but Sun Gui took advantage of him, cutting off an arm and cutting off a quarter of his head.
"I" couldn't stand it anymore and withdrew my consciousness. But after a while, an inexplicable force drove "I" to explore again——
In the rain, Zhou Man still stood. And Sun Gui has fallen.
A woman with a quarter of her head cut off and an arm broken stood in the rain. The perpetrator fell in a pool of blood.
From that night on, "I" found that I could no longer be a pure bystander. Once you see some scenes, you can never take them back. The secrets hidden in Zhou Man, her daughter's situation in the college, and the chain reaction caused by Sun Gui's death are dragging "me" step by step into the center of the whirlpool.
This is a story about watching. About seeing and silence, about the evil at the bottom and the will to survive, about how a bystander gets involved in everything she is trying to stay away from - and, when everything is settled, whether she can still find herself who was watching indifferently.
Intention: Bystander is not neutral, silence is not innocent - when you choose to close your eyes, you have already voted for darkness.
