We Came to Cultivate Immortality, So Why Does Everyone Have a Secret?

After more than ten years of arduous training in the mountains, Yi He was finally allowed by her master to leave the sect. She had only meant to visit a sword gathering for a friendly exchange (to wreck the place, claim the top spot, and have some fun), but then she met someone even more interesting. So Yi He and her senior brother kept pestering the junior brother from Shang Qingyun, who was determined to climb the ranks. Yi He grabbed him. “Don’t go.” Yan Chou: “…I’m not going.” Wuyou: “That’s more like it. Let’s have a chat.” Yan Chou: “…You two, take your swords off my neck! Both of them!” The aloof junior brother was pushed to his breaking point by their ridiculous antics, and the three made quite a spectacle of themselves at the sword gathering. The elders of Shang Qingyun watched the three of them create chaos with pleased smiles and nodded in satisfaction. At last, someone had finally stepped in to help their autistic child. The elders of Lingyun Sect sipped their tea calmly. “Just another day at work. No need to thank us.” Later, after the two of them kindly talked their autistic little friend through things, the junior brother ran down the mountain in the middle of the night. The other two stubbornly chased after him, following him shamelessly and throwing tantrums all the way. They discovered that Yan Chou was going to investigate an old case: a massacre from eighteen years ago, when an entire family was wiped out. Yi He and Wuyou said on the surface, “Hehe, we love helping people.” Yan Chou: “…Has anyone ever told you two that you’re terrible at lying?” For various reasons, the three set off together, each with their own agenda and all hiding something. As they met more people during the investigation, they found that everyone seemed to have a secret identity. Yan Chou stared expressionlessly at the two oddballs behind him. “You two are completely ordinary, right?” Yi He, with her mysterious bloodline and contracted beast: “That’s right, I’m the weakest.” Wuyou, with the Human Emperor’s flame and peerless swordsmanship: “Exactly. I’m just Wuyou.” Yan Chou: “Sure.” An NPC, beaten until he was spitting blood: “What the hell are you ‘sure’ about? Every clue pointed to a senior who had been missing for over a hundred years. And this elder seemed to have stolen someone else’s secret technique… Yi He: “Ooh, this is going to be fun.” Wuyou: “Interesting.” Yan Chou: “Could you two wipe those hooligan grins off your faces? We’re going to visit the Fan family…” Bang! The two of them kicked the door wide open. Yi He: “Huh? You should’ve said so sooner.” Wuyou: “What are you mumbling about? Everyone has their own story and side plots, and most characters will get their own bonus chapters. 2️⃣ The three protagonists share a friendship, and none of them will have a love interest by the end of the story. 3️⃣ There are romantic side couples. The three canon couples in the main story are Shengqiu, Shiwei, and Chuan; they have plenty of page time and affect the plot, so no breaking them up. (PS: These three pairings are set in stone. There’s nothing I can do if you don’t like them.) 4️⃣ Unless the plot clearly indicates otherwise, other supporting characters are assumed to have no romantic storylines in this book. Future books set in the same Floating Light Realm may mention characters from this story, or briefly touch on their romantic lives in the main text or bonus chapters. If you don’t like that, you can read the books separately. (PS: There may be subtle hints at some side plots, but they won’t affect the main story. Much of the history and setting is the author’s own imagination, so please don’t confuse it with reality. 6️⃣ A coming-of-age story, not a wish-fulfillment power fantasy. It’s not about an invincible heroine. Xiao He is still young, and this is a story about her growing up. 7️⃣ The author’s notes at the end of each chapter include all kinds of gossip, strange tales, and trivia about the Floating Light Realm. It’s my first long novel, and I may not be used to a fast pace, so the story will move at a tortoise’s pace.
