During the Republic of China, Taoist priest Zhou Xuan broke the seal and released the seven sinful spirits attached to the gloomy wooden coffin. Many years later, the seven sinful spirits awakened and began to attack one after another following the expansion of original sin in human nature. The victims corresponded to the seven deadly sins: pride, jealousy, rage, laziness, greed, gluttony, and lust. Interpol Su Yan is responsible for detecting serial murders. He and his assistant Chen Xun went to the abandoned Xuanqing Taoist Temple in Qingming Mountain to explore the truth, and met the mountain guard Zhou Song, a descendant of the Taoist priest who broke the seal. Zhou Song planned to hold a ceremony to re-seal the sinful spirit, but during the ceremony, Chen Xun, who was consumed by jealousy, disrupted the magic circle and the seal failed completely. In the end, Zhou Song disappeared, and Chen Xun was trapped in a spiritual illusion forever; Su Yan was bound by the shackles of sinful spirits because of the arrogance hidden in his heart, and stayed alone in the Taoist temple, falling into a reincarnation of endless regret.
Concept: Desire is rooted in human nature, evil spirits are just the carrier of desire. External laws and rituals can restrict behavior, but they cannot eradicate the evil in people's hearts. The real danger is never ghosts, but the uncontrolled heart; if original sins such as arrogance and jealousy are allowed to grow unchecked, people will eventually be self-destructed. At the same time, the tragic ending of the story points out that many mistakes cannot be completely undone, and eternal self-examination and restraint are the spiritual practice of a person's life.
