A scheming, death-fearing priestess x a cold Sun God cast down from his altar
Ying Wangyin was bought as a sacrificial scapegoat at the age of ten. At eighteen, she became the supreme Grand Priest, with a countdown of seven years left carved into her forehead.
If she didn't have much life left to live, why not enjoy the present?
She flirted with playboys, teased powerful ministers, and toyed with the Eastern Palace. Hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of men had fallen into her hands.
There was no such thing as true love in a life of pleasure.
One night, by a stroke of bad luck, she slept with a handsome man. He was taciturn, and his gaze seemed to hold a trace of surprise.
“My lord, how can you be mute?”
“Never mind. As long as you sound good when you moan.”
She soon forgot all about him, only to see his image on the altar.
A god. She'd slept with the guardian deity of the dynasty.
She laughed. Her life was already absurd enough; this was just one more ridiculous thing.
She never imagined that things could get even more absurd from there...
P.S.
1. This is set in an imagined Shang dynasty. The sacrificial rites are loosely based on those of the Shang, and anything that doesn't match historical Shang customs is invented for the story. Please don't overanalyze it.
2. The heroine has many men around her, but this is a one-on-one romance.
3. The hero is sexually inexperienced and faithful, while the heroine is not. The heroine is a flirt who eventually settles down, with strong self-respect at her core.
4. The main plot follows the heroine's personal growth, not her romance with the hero. The hero has plenty of scenes, but early on there are also many storylines about the Grand Priest and ancestral temple in which he doesn't take part.
Only character dialogue, setting the tone
Ying Wangyin / heroine: “I was born without a birthday. My fate has yet to be decided.”
Zhuo Shuo / hero: “When the sun turns dim, I will leave.”
Xie Jue / Crown Prince: “You can play with anything you like, but you must never play with me.”
Yin Xuanye / Ghost King: “Your life is fleeting as a firefly, but I have always been here.”
Theme: Happiness is the greatest meaning.
