The protagonists of the story are two incompatible figures in Nanhua Middle School: one is Shen Qingzhou, a cold and ascetic academic who has always been at the top of his grade; the other is Lu Xingye, a rebellious sports student who comes from a wealthy family. In the eyes of everyone, they are two parallel lines that will never intersect. They were even forced to become seatmates because of a seat adjustment, starting a tit-for-tat "Cold War" routine.
