Xu Yizhou's world is black and there is no daylight. She is eleven years old. She was born blind. She grew up in a school for the blind and relies on sound and touch to understand the world. In 2028, a brain-computer interface technology made her the first subject of a children's clinical trial. An electrode array is implanted in the visual cortex of the brain to bypass the damaged eye and "see" light and color directly. After the operation, she had unique vision: there were colorful halos around the edges of objects, and the colors were brighter than ordinary people. She returned to ordinary primary school and also returned to the school for the blind to tell her former friends: the world will shine and the future will come.
