An old city, three kinds of broken dreams. Some people read dreams, some watch the flow, and some keep vigil with a knife.
Drug store doctor Su Weichi wipes the door frame every morning to collect silver-gray dream dust. She reads emotions, discerns obsessions, and comforts her neighbors during sleepless nights, but never touches her own dreams. The cocoon of the homeless child has not passed. She only remembers that someone called her daughter in the dream. She followed the thread of dream dust to this street because the dust here was particularly quiet. Shi Yu, the guardian of the dust, hangs the dream blade from her waist and believes that "the cocoon must be destroyed when it sees it" because her mother once brought a dream cocoon home and then slowly forgot everything, including her daughter's name.
They were unrelated until a fifteen-year-old girl's dream was taken away and her consciousness was trapped in a pulsating dream cocoon underground. Tracking, touching, cutting off - after the first case was over, they discovered that the dream cocoon was just a "tentacle", and the silver-gray thin threads were still flowing deeper, like roots and snake letters.
From then on, two stoneware bowls of porridge or noodle soup were placed on the window sill of Sanmian Hall every day, containing the unspoken alliance. They wait for it to appear again, for it to absorb enough dreams and reveal its roots. And the man from the second-hand bookstore who has no dream dust on his body opens the door every afternoon and brings an old book or nothing at all. Su Weichi couldn't read him, which made her flustered and made her sit for a while longer late at night.
There are snakes underground, waiting for a big enough dream. They didn't know that it was the three people's dreams that were twisted into a rope.
