When Li Qianyin was born, her father borrowed thirty yuan from someone outside the delivery room to buy wine.
The day her mother brought her home, there wasn't even a clean diaper at home, so she tore up old clothes to make do. Later, her mother learned to point her nose and scold her: "If I hadn't given birth to you, I would have run away."
Her father learned how to throw things when he came back after drinking. After doing so, he squatted on the ground and cried, saying that he was a useless person. Li Qianyin squatted beside him to pick up broken pieces of porcelain. If his fingers were cut, he would suck them with his mouth without making any sound.
People at school called her "poor girl". Some people stuffed S Lao S into her schoolbag, and some threw her homework into the toilet sink. She squatted by the sink, fished out the paper, and spread it page by page on the windowsill to dry. The dried paper was crumpled, and the teacher marked it with the word "read" without even looking at it.
Later someone asked her if she wanted to change her lifestyle.
"What's the way to live?"
"The kind that doesn't kneel."
Li Qianyin said nothing. She looked down at her pair of canvas shoes that had been washed white. There were holes in the toes, exposing her big toes. She plugged the hole with the big toe of her other foot and raised her head.
"Let's go."
She had two paths: one to kneel and rot, the other to die standing. She chose the third option - stand up, walk out, and don't look back.
Intention: People do not live to live, but to live standing
