In November of the fourteenth year of Tianbao (755), Anlushan raised troops from Fanyang and marched southward. The rebels passed through the border like locusts. Wherever they went, the smoke was cut off and corpses were scattered everywhere. Yan Gaoqing and his youngest son Ji Ming were arrested, and more than thirty members of the Yan family were all caught in this catastrophe. Three years later, Yan Zhenqing finally found Ji Ming's skull, and with a slightly bald pen, he wrote a memorial message - the piece of paper filled with bloody ink became the heaviest monument in the troubled times.
(For the purpose of plot tension and scene construction, the messenger was changed from Yan Quanming to Yan Jiming in the third act, Shi Siming was changed to An Lushan in the fourth act, and the execution was advanced to Changshan)
Purpose: Feelings of family and country
