Once upon a time, there was a beautiful country called the Seirei Kingdom, where the scenery was picturesque and the birds were singing and the flowers were fragrant. In early spring, a hundred flowers bloom, and larks compete to present their most beautiful songs. On summer nights, ice-blue bellflowers sway gently in the breeze, and ice-blue mist casts a mysterious veil over the valley. In late autumn, countless harvest fruits are rolling in the golden valley. In the cold winter, white snow is floating slightly, melting as soon as it falls to the ground, like goose feathers.
There is a legend circulating in the Seirei Kingdom that on the other side of the mountain, across the creeks and rivers, in the long white sand, is a completely different world. The sky was just pure white, so white that it looked weird. In the center of the white sand, stands a magnificent palace called Xuye Palace. Among the ice-colored red lotuses in the lotus pond in Xuye Palace, a beautiful princess was sleeping. Her skin was like gelatin, her lips were like petals, and her long hair was flowing down like a waterfall. Legend has it that an evil dragon snatched away the princess and sealed it in an icy lake. Only the kiss of the warrior who defeated the dragon could awaken the princess.
Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni of the Seirei Kingdom had thirteen children. When he heard that the princess in Kyūya Palace was an elegant and beautiful girl, he decided to betroth her to his sixth son, Byakuya, known as the Prince of Wakame. A handsome orange-haired knight was entrusted by King Yamamoto to go to the distant Xuye Kingdom to bring back the beautiful princess, so he and his knight friends embarked on the journey together.
