I visited traditional handicrafts in various places and witnessed generations of craftsmen adhering to cumbersome ancient methods and competing with the convenient and cheap mass production of machines. I stopped in the stone workshop and personally carved the surnames of ordinary families, restored the ancient surnames such as Xuanyuan and Zhongli that were gradually unknown, and relied on stele inscriptions to preserve the past family stories engraved in stone tablets.
There is still a long way to go. I will visit and record in detail various ancient cultural contexts such as folk songs, traditional music and dance, opera and folk arts, folk customs, ancient medicine, traditional acrobatics and martial arts.
The assembly line wears away the unique warmth of handwork, and the long years slowly bury the skills left by the predecessors. I walk around the world, comforting those who are lonely in their crafts, picking up ancient crafts that are about to disappear, and collecting all the human ingenuity scattered in Kyushu on the lotus platform.
