In the streets and alleys of the old city in the south of the city, there is a "Jue Ancient Restoration Museum". The owner of the museum, Lin Jue, is the sole heir to a top wealthy family, but he hates being squeezed out by the market. He alone maintains a small space to restore old objects, and his craftsmanship is top-notch in the industry.
Freelance illustrator Xu Lan came to this old street to collect materials. She has an unknown ability - by touching an old object with its owner's obsession with her fingertips, she can see the past it has experienced.
A damaged wooden monkey reminded her of a mother who was searching her home to keep a token of her son's safety; a yellowing begonia flower reminded her of her great-aunt Xu Lanzhi, whom she had never met. Seventy years ago, Xu Lanzhi married into the Lin family with a generous dowry, but watched helplessly as her dowry was tampered with as "public property" by the Lin family's family. Unable to resist, she hid the thirteen old Xu family belongings one by one in the walls of the old house, in dry wells, and under tree roots. She also left behind account books, letters, and land deeds, waiting for descendants of the Xu family to find them one day.
Lin Jue didn't believe Xu Lan's ability at first and thought it was a coincidence. But as the old items were unearthed one by one, the buried old accounts of the Lin family gradually surfaced - their adopted daughter Lin Rui secretly stole and sold antiques, family friend Qi Xia had privately owned old items for 40 years, and even Lin Jue's grandfather personally tampered with property rights records in the 70s. Faced with the dark side of the family, Lin Jue did not shy away, but worked side by side with Xu Lan to put the removed things back to their original places one by one.
On the day when all thirteen old items were found, the old shop in the south of the city that had been empty for seventy years reopened its doors. The sun shines on the new signboard of "Xu's Pen Store", just like the smile on Xu Lanzhi's lips when she buried her first wooden box seventy years ago, convinced that someone would find it.
This is a story about old objects and memories, but also a story about how the buried truth will eventually come to light. Old things cannot speak, but they are always waiting for someone to listen.
Intention: The buried truth will eventually return to where it belongs in some way. Old things cannot speak, but time can speak for them.
