Gradually, he learned that she was the fiancée whom he had separated from when he was young.
As the relationship between the two gradually developed, the turmoil in the court spread to the south of the Yangtze River: in order to retaliate against Gu Yanzhi, the powerful officials fabricated the charge of "Su Yanqing's collaboration with the enemy" and wanted to use her to force Gu Yanzhi to compromise. In order to prove his innocence and save Gu Yanzhi, Su Yanqing went to the capital with a silver hairpin. She refused the temptation of the powerful minister "to practice medicine in the palace to be exempted from crime", and entered the palace to treat the Queen Mother's stubborn illness with her medical skills. However, after the Queen Mother recovered, she bluntly said that "the Queen Mother's disease is caused by 'greed'. Medicines and stones can heal the body, but not the heart." Although she offended the Queen Mother, the emperor who was observing secretly saw her character clearly. At the same time, she discovered that the combination of the silver hairpin jade medal and the jade pendant actually contained evidence of old cases of corruption and perversion of the law by powerful officials (Gu's mother was killed when she discovered this, so she turned the evidence into a keepsake).
In the end, Su Yanqing presented the evidence in court, and Gu Yanzhi impeached the powerful officials in court. Although the two were demoted for "the following crimes, the superiors", they were rewarded with the rule of the Qingming Dynasty. On the way to be demoted, Gu Yanzhi inserted a new silver hairpin for Su Yanqing under the magnolia tree in the courtyard of the post station, "You guard the medical way, and I will guard you. From now on, the magnolia will bloom every year, and we will be together."
Purpose: Using the characteristics of magnolia as "clean but not arrogant, moist but not demonic", it reflects the love and character of the two people who "will not bow down to fame and wealth, nor let down their hearts due to difficulties", and break the class barriers between "poor family and aristocratic family" and "folk and court".
