The not-so-humble peasant girl VS the not-so-domineering spoiled prince
Su Wan is a grass that grows wildly in the countryside. She doesn't understand so many secular rules. She only knows that her husband has run away and she wants to find him back.
So, she traveled to many places, met many people, went through all kinds of hardships to get to the imperial capital, and finally met him at the banquet.
But he transformed from a young man who fled to the current prince, with a dignified, elegant and generous fiancée beside him.
At the banquet, she ignored everyone's objections, ran up to him, held his hand with a smile, carefully placed a piece of treasured osmanthus cake in his palm, and murmured in a low voice: "Why did you leave without saying goodbye? I have been looking for you for a long, long time."
He paused for a moment and looked at the pastry in his palm. Warmth arose in his heart, but he crushed it indifferently on the surface.
The noise at the banquet suddenly stopped, and Su Wan's smiling eyes watched the piece of sweet-scented osmanthus cake break into pieces in his palm, and the crumbs fell from between his fingers, like the dust that had crushed her thousands of miles away.
"A country woman doesn't know the rules." His thin lips parted slightly, but there was no warmth in his voice.
Su Wan tilted her head and looked from the cake to his eyes.
The eyes that she had seen under the moon, with stars hidden in them, were now covered by a thin layer of ice.
But something was shaking under the ice.
She suddenly smiled.
In front of a crowd of dignitaries and the dignified fiancée, she took out the second piece of cake from her sleeve, wrapped in a handkerchief, still with her body temperature.
"It's okay," she handed it over, her voice as light as the wind, "I prepared two pieces."
He didn't speak, didn't take the cake, and his face didn't show any signs of emotion.
She gently placed the cake in front of his case, turned around and left.
His steps were brisk, just like when he came, and his back was straight.
That night, he spent the whole night staring at the piece of cake on the table, his fingertips turning white.
Later, she quietly slipped into the prince's mansion, cooked and stewed soup for him, and took care of his daily life, thinking that life would slowly return to the past.
Until that day, the cold sword was placed between her and his fiancée's necks. He hesitated for a moment and stretched out his hand to block his fiancée's body.
She stood aside and watched, and suddenly understood, how could a peasant girl be compared to the daughter of the Shen family.
No matter where his mind is, in that position, she can only be by his side.
She left a letter and left quietly, leaving no more entanglements.
Later, he broke off the engagement, dismissed his staff, and chased her for thousands of miles. Finally, he found her in a remote mountain village. He put on his luxurious clothes and rolled up his sleeves to accompany her in farming.
People from the court came one after another, asking the prince to return to the capital. He just pretended not to hear, squatting next to Su Wan and clumsily digging the soil. After digging for a long time, he could not dig out a few inches of decent ground.
Being asked anxiously, he said without raising his head: "When did Wan Wan agree to be the Crown Princess, and when did my Highness return?"
After a pause, he glanced at Su Wan's face secretly, and added in a lower voice: "If you find me annoying, I can move to the next village, but don't drive me away."
