In 2147, human beings personally created a spiritual prison without privacy. The global rich and poor are torn apart, the shackles of debt hang high above their heads, the ethics of marriage and love have collapsed, Western culture has invaded, and depression and suicide have swept the entire society; all people are forcibly implanted with intracranial chips, and the 3D projection of thoughts on the head is exposed in real time. There is no hiding for selfish desires, love, and calculations, and there are no more secrets and disguises between people.
The warmth of the old era has long been reduced to the dregs of the times. Hermaphrodites and utilitarian vixens have become popular, and numbness and self-interest have become the only standard answer to survival. Shen Hao, a young man from the bottom, is an outlier in the apocalypse. He insists on humanity and goodwill, and the projection of complex and emotional thoughts makes him repeatedly excluded and ridiculed.
The cold and cunning top vixen Su Wu handed him a bait, using gentleness as armor and sincerity as a trap in an attempt to assimilate this rare human nature. On one side are the cruel and naked laws of survival in the world, and on the other are the shaky and incomplete emotions. When everyone abandons themselves to escape pain, Shen Hao will eventually face the choice: to cut off his emotions and drift with the tide, becoming an indifferent survivor, or to stick to his heart and become the last outlier in troubled times.
Purpose: Using the spiritual apocalypse of the near future as a shell, it reflects all the real pain points of today's society: high mortgage and car loans, the involution of medical education, the solidification of the gap between the rich and the poor, group spiritual infighting, fear of marriage, social isolation, cultural erosion and other chaos. It is deduced that under the extreme pressure of survival, human beings gradually abandon ethics, privacy, emotions and bottom lines, and eventually evolve into a deformed civilization where all members are self-interested, have broken ethics and have transparent minds. This work denies extreme escapist survival and criticizes the pathological values of blindly worshiping foreigners, abandoning local culture, and cutting off human nature in order to reduce burdens. The most terrifying thing in the world is never natural disasters, but the fact that in order to avoid pain, human beings actively abandon family affection, love, shame and empathy, and become cold survival tools. The novel uses the perseverance of the male protagonist Shen Hao to ask: When indifference and numbness have become the mainstream of the times, and abandoning humanity can be safe, are we still willing to accept pain, keep our true heart, and survive in a dirty world where everyone is drifting with the tide? We keep the last dignity and warmth of human beings.
