We were seventeen or eighteen years old at that time. We were obsessed with departure but not superstitious with arrival. We longed for chaos in the hope of some kind of order. We believed in diversity.
This is a story that has been conceived for a long time. In 2019, I realized that I wanted to create a story based on Austin. Austin is the capital of Texas. As a representative of southern conservative forces, it is exclusive, which is reflected in its accent, its traditions and lifestyle. The other direction of the story is a Chinese teenager from Chicago, so there is a conflict.
So this is not just a story about love, it is a story about individual survival and growth, about the survival and struggle of outsiders in a world where reality is crumbling.
