Shen Zheqing, a 17-year-old repeat student, was left in a vegetative state due to a car accident by her adoptive father. She was admitted to a hospice hospital with her mother. She often took fake daily photos to pretend that her family was happy, but she suffered from depression and the pressure of life alone. She meets Lin Fengzhi, a hearing-impaired cellist who always rips up music scores and sticks them on the window late at night. On a rainy night, Zheqing stood up to protect Lin Fengzhi who was being bullied, but accidentally lost his hearing in his right ear. The two bonded over their scars.
Lin Fengzhi built a secret base with old radios on the rooftop and revealed his deepest feelings to her: the broken music score was the manuscript of his father who died of depression, and he only came close to make up for the regret of not being able to save his father. Shen Zheqing also accidentally learned the secret of his life experience. The troubled two people healed together and took advantage of the five centimeter drop of the jacaranda to achieve two-way redemption, growth and reconciliation in their broken lives.
