Lu Xun is an archaeological leader who believes in materialism and abides by rules. He was ordered to excavate the Nanshan cliff tombs of the Song Dynasty.
In the tomb, trapped alone is a thousand-year-old soul named Shen Zhiyao.
She was the head of Yulan County during the Qingli period of the Northern Song Dynasty. She was imprisoned in the west courtyard of the palace since she was a child. She drank cold medicine every day and acted as a chess piece every day. She died in a heavy snowfall at the age of seventeen and was buried in a coffin. Her soul was imprisoned by the earth in the tomb for more than nine hundred years. There are only a few strokes in the official history to whitewash her life as a chess piece. No one knows that she suffered for half her life and walked alone for thousands of years.
No one in the world can see her, only Lu Xun can be with her day and night.
From alienation and temptation to empathy and heartache, Lu Xun listened to her half-life pain and saw through the hypocrisy of the imperial power and the false history. Yin and yang take different paths, and the soul will eventually dissipate. She could not change her fate to keep Shen Zhiyao, so she put down the pen and put aside official historical materials and wrote her own "Farewell to Shen Zhiyao" to record her unknown tenderness and suffering.
The tomb is sealed and stones fall, and the soul disappears. This is meant to be parted forever.

The bones are buried in the loess, and the names are left in the pen and ink.

Purpose: to transcend yin and yang and time and space to redeem the gentle people who have been abandoned by fate, history, and time; love can break the barrier between life and death, and sincerity can withstand a thousand years of loneliness.
