At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Ma Chixi (later named Ma Sanbiao) lost his father when he was young. He witnessed his mother being forced to death by village bullies and became a beggar. He scoffed at the fortune teller's assertion that he was "a second-rank official." In order to survive, he joined a beggar gang and was taught by the old beggar Su Maogong that "there is a way to steal". Later, he was imprisoned for robbery. In prison, he was taught martial arts and "The Collection of Abandoned Wrongs" by Yan Zifei, a former Ming Dynasty guard.
Shunzhi was amnesty and was released from prison. He failed to run the inn and was forced to return to his old business. During a robbery, his accomplices lost control and killed innocent people indiscriminately. In his dream, he was asked by his mother, "What's the difference between you and the people who bullied you?", So he parted ways with the evil beggar brothers and established the rule of "only robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, without harming anyone's life." Later, she met Xiulian, eloped, changed her name to Ma Sanbiao, and donated her official position to the order in Pengze County, Sichuan.
When he first entered the officialdom, he solved strange cases in a series of ways - using the "possession of the undead" to defraud an adulterer, using light skills to capture a thief at night, and cleverly captured the murder of a village tyrant, leaving the subordinate squire stunned. He was promoted all the way to the rank of inspector, and finally became famous in the "Jiangnan Examination Fraud Case" by giving in on the surface and setting up spies behind the scenes, with irrefutable evidence reaching the imperial court.
In order to show his "tolerance in the prosperous age", Emperor Kangxi gave him a plaque of "Open and Honest", which has since become a talisman. He took concubines because his wife had no children, and they were harmonious and affectionate. In his later years, he retired after success, entertained his grandchildren with joy, and passed away peacefully in the fragrance of osmanthus. The wooden box at the end of his life contained his mother's well rope, his master's darts and fortune-telling posts - he spent half his life living from "Chixi Society" to "Ma Qingtian", completing three transformations from victim, harmer to guardian.
