This is a novel that combines social realism, class collision and youth redemption.
The story takes place in Meicheng, a cold and declining northern industrial town in late 2019. Zhang Tong, a rebellious young man from Qiangyun Group, was "sent" to this desolate place by his profit-oriented father due to the trauma of his mother's suicide and school violence. In the local Meicheng No. 1 Middle School, his classmate Chen Ming lives - a top grader whose parents both died and who was forced to become extremely selfish and calmly calculating in order to survive in the quagmire.
Two fringe teenagers with vastly different classes and similar brokenness met fatefully in the shadow of an abandoned shipyard. Because of a righteous counterattack against school bullying, they were forcibly bound to the last two rows of the classroom by the school. In this living environment where money and power can put a price on integrity at will, and the adult world is hypocritical and cruel, Zhang Tong's rough pride and Chen Ming's cold forbearance collided violently. They are each other's blades, but they also become each other's only flanks and defenders in the abyss where the wind and snow spread.
This is not only two trapped beasts hugging each other for warmth, but also a great redemption of stripping away pretense, learning to take responsibility, and crossing the "one-meter line" in the heart to pursue the dignity and innocence of the soul.
