Synopsis
Introduction to "Zingele's Story" Late Qing Dynasty, Khalkha Mongolia. There are 2,000 troops stationed in General Ulyasutai's Mansion, and the military camp can be expanded to 5,000, ready to pounce on any resistance in western Outer Mongolia and Xinjiang. For the local Mongols, oppression came from institutions—labor, taxes, orders to become monastics—and the destruction of two thousand people hanging above their heads. Zingele was born in the Gobi Altai. His father taught him how to ride a horse and told him that "the wind knows you." The elder brother won the Naadam Horse Racing at the age of twelve, with his red belt fluttering like a flag in the wind. Three years later, he was sent to Qingning Temple by a letter from Zasak to become a monk, and eventually died in a hut behind the temple. Zingele took his body back to the Gobi for sky burial - there was no grave, but the wind remembered him. Qinggele married Gerile. She can knock down a cow, command two Mongolian mastiffs to fight off a pack of wolves, use her tongue to tell the age and slaughter season of mutton, and use the precise words in her language to call out the only sheep out of five hundred. Shortly after the marriage, the recruitment order came - Zingele was sent to work at General Ulyasutai's Mansion. Gerile accompanied him. The city walls narrowed the sky. The General's Mansion took away his knife. The officers carried sacks in the granary and were whipped on the brick floor. The Shanxi merchants who took the west entrance - called "Hujia" by the Mongolians - brought needles and threads and brick tea, as well as diseases that were not found on the grasslands. The old man who sets the bones of a horse has exquisite techniques for setting the bones of a horse, but he sets bones of a human being carelessly - "If a horse is lame, its price will go down, but if a person is lame, it won't delay work." In the year of Xinhai, the south was in chaos and the emperor was gone. Kulun declared independence, and the Mongol army moved westward. The main force of the General's Mansion was contained in the east of the city, with only 500 defenders left in the city. Zingele and the guards picked up Mongolian knives in the middle of the night when the cold wave was the strongest and opened the west door from the inside. They killed Manchu officials and razed military camps to the ground. But the lama class and the Mongolian princes were not passive - they changed their flags and continued to rule. Shanxi merchants fled back to the mainland along the way they came, leaving behind the "guest disease". Gerile remembers everything and does not need to draw anything. Qinggel and Gerile drove the bullock cart back to the Gobi Altai. Gerile fell down a cow again. Zingele lifted the newborn into the wind: "Let the wind recognize his face first." More than a hundred years later, the former military camp site is still an open space with sparse grass. No one built houses, no one herded sheep. An old man wearing a sheepskin robe sat on the edge of the clearing. He didn't know what this place used to be. But the earth remembers. Purpose: Life needs to be cherished and joyful
