Shen Yanjin, 32 years old, is a funeral director. His main job is to put makeup on the dead, and his side job is to make trouble for the living. His life motto was "Everything can be buried" until one day he picked up a wanted criminal covered in blood in the back alley of a funeral home - the man was using his makeup brush to apply concealer on his face.
Zhou Muye, a former narcotics policeman turned outlaw, has three arrest warrants for his life, but actually carries twelve unsolved unjust cases. He was on the run for three years. The most embarrassing moment was not when he was chased by bullets, but when Shen Yanjin broke his ribs when he hit him with a corpse cart from the funeral home. Then the other person knelt down, handed him a cigarette and said, "Don't die here. I have three bodies to dispose of tomorrow and I don't have time to deal with you."
The two were forced to be tied together, like two pieces of waste paper crumpled by fate and stuffed into their pockets. Shen Yanjin is greedy for money, mean, venomous and cold-hearted, while Zhou Muye is reckless, gloomy and desperate. They hate each other, but have to use each other - one wants to use the other's identity as a wanted criminal to defraud the bail, and the other wants to use the other's identity as a funeral home to hide.
From the hot funeral town in the south to the desolate border town in the northwest; from the absurdity of giving "peace makeup" to the boss, to the horror of evading pursuit in a corpse truck. They have seen the ugliest living people and given them the most honorable farewell. Shen Yanjin slowly discovered that what was on Zhou Muye's back was not a human life, but an entire police team that had been crushed. Zhou Muye slowly saw clearly that buried in Shen Yanjin's cold shell was a secret that was more silent than death.
The words "hate the sea and love the sky" are too light. There is salt between them - the wounds have been pickled, soaked by the years, and finally become the salt in each other's bones and blood that cannot be shaken off.
It's not redemption, it's two people rolling around in the mud and finding that the other person is the only one who can support their fall.
