HE
She shattered his silence.
From then on, childish cartoons grew out of the corners of the draft paper for formula calculations, and unknown lines of poetry were hidden in the hustle and bustle of the stadium. When the cicadas were singing at their peak, a secret took root on the title page: "When she smiled, the world suddenly became quiet."
Xia Jiahe felt that her high school life was lively enough—chasing papers and knocking over the school uniform's lunch, being tutored in math by Jiang Che, who was number one in grade, with a cold face, and filling the corners of the draft paper with drawings of teenagers in school uniforms.
Jiang Che felt the same way. He wrote poetry, played basketball, and built a wall with a cold sense of distance, until Xia Jiahe barged in recklessly and hid the entire spring on the title page of his notebook. He filled her milk tea cup with mathematical formulas, and she was called "Jiang Che's little sun" by the whole school on the sidelines of the basketball court. He just took her milk tea and drank it in one gulp, but swallowed the unspoken "yes".
Later, when he received a notice to go abroad, she smashed all the sketches she had drawn for him, but found "Idiot Jiang Che" written by herself on the back of the fragments.
In the last heavy rain of summer, a soaked Jiang Che stood downstairs of her house holding the canceled ticket. "I changed my choice," he said, "to the same university as you."
At sunrise on the graduation trip, Xia Jiahe handed him a painting. The boy in school uniform looked back at the playground, with a small inscription on the corner of his painting——
"My youth begins with you."
Jiang Che wrote it into poetry. The name of the poem is "Xia He Yang Yang".
A story about secret love hidden in mathematical formulas and tenderness written in lines of poetry. Just like the seedlings on the riverside meeting the clear river water, every ripple that spreads is the most moving echo of youth.
