When Qin Yu'er saw Zhao Changyang again, she didn’t recognize him at all.
Under the bakery’s rain canopy, he wore a simple black T-shirt and trousers. He had cool, handsome features, a tall, fit build, and long limbs. Head bowed over his phone, he stood beside a flourishing red Leonardo da Vinci rose, looking like a model. Man and flowers, both gorgeous.
Qin Yu'er was gentle by nature and had a weakness for handsome men. While waiting, she couldn’t help sneaking a couple of extra glances, just to pass the time.
Then the handsome guy looked up, spotted her, and suddenly charged straight toward her. Qin Yu'er panicked. Had her gaze been too lecherous, too shameless, and now he was coming over to teach her a lesson?
She was ready to run, but the handsome guy neither hit her nor scolded her. Instead, he wrapped her in a tight, solid embrace.
Then, as if relieved, he murmured at the top of her head, “What took you so long? I’ve been waiting forever.”
Oh my, oh my! What was going on? Had the matchmaker or Cupid finally gotten to work? No, money doesn’t just fall from the sky. This had to be some new kind of scam!
And as it turned out, it really was a scam.
A little later, Qin Yu'er suddenly remembered: this guy was the cousin of her cousin Yang Ying, that short little tagalong who’d annoyed and exasperated her back then. Zhao Changyang!
Later still, her irritating younger cousin gazed at Qin Yu'er with reddened eyes and a dazed, suggestive look, shamelessly asking if she wanted to give them a try. Half his clothes were already off.
For some reason, Qin Yu'er didn’t run or try to avoid him. She thought, He’s just a little kid. How could he possibly get the better of me? And then he got the better of her completely, in every sense.
Qin Yu'er had never dreamed that one day a man she’d once looked down on, couldn’t stand, and had forgotten about would leave her flustered and helpless, while also making her heart race and feel free and happy!
She had to be going crazy.
But Makino Tsukushi once said that money was meant to buy things. So using it to buy happiness couldn’t be unreasonable, right?
Besides, her vacation was only five days. When it was over, she’d give Zhao Changyang some money and leave. They’d settle their account and go their separate ways, with no strings attached.
Really. That would be enough, wouldn’t it?
Zhao Changyang looked at the money transfer on his phone and eventually accepted it. It wasn’t about the money. He just felt that whatever Qin Yu'er gave him, good or bad, he wanted.
What he wanted most, of course, was Qin Yu'er herself.
