Shen Sheng is an art school student who suffers from borderline personality disorder, accompanied by depression and anxiety. He has a habit of turning around before others leave, testing the bottom line of every relationship with indifference and hostility. His paintings are full of things about to collapse - melting icebergs, broken bridges, burning houses. The mentor forcibly brought him to the psychiatrist Lu Chenzhou.
Lu Chenzhou seemed calmer than him. He never crossed the line when speaking, but every word cut through his defense accurately. "You don't need hostility to test whether I'm going to leave," he said.
The treatment progressed slowly with silent resistance and temptation. At the same time, his daily life with his roommates continues - the silent genius Su Yu, the cynical Zhou Ye, and Fang Chi who hides a secret behind the sunshine. Shen Mo thought this treatment was just another form of safe distance, until he discovered that Lu Chenzhou was not invulnerable.
When the graduation exhibition is approaching and her career is about to take off, Shen Mo faces the news of Lu Chenzhou's transfer. The fear of being abandoned pushed him to extreme escape. Lu Chenzhou looked for him for three days and three nights, breaking all the rules and said: "I am not your doctor anymore, now I am just a person who comes to see you."
But being together is not the end. BPD will not be cured just by being loved, and Lu Chenzhou's savior complex has been repeatedly touched during the relationship. This is not a "love heals all" story, but two traumatized people learning to breathe together in imperfection. Silence finally discovered: he was not an ice floe, he was an island - it had always been there, but the deep water made him mistakenly think that he would sink.
Purpose: Learn to breathe in deep water
