The first time Ji Tang met Lu Shiyu was in a place she absolutely didn't want to go.
She is an intern assistant at a law firm. She deals with endless case files and overtime work every day. Her life is like a sealed well. When she went to the hospital to deliver materials that day, she lost her way and came to a gray security door with the words "No Access for Unused Persons" posted on it. The door opened, a girl in a hospital gown pointed her in a direction, and then closed the door again.
Ji Tang didn't know her name or why she was imprisoned there. He only remembered that she had a pair of beautiful hands and a tattoo that looked like a wave.
She shouldn't have gone again. But later, she went for the second, third, and fourth time. She convinced herself that she was just passing by, that she was curious, that she was bored, that everything was fine - but she knew in her heart that she just wanted to see those eyes again. There was no cry for help, no vulnerability, nothing in those eyes that a trapped person "should" have. There is only a kind of quiet that makes people feel at ease, like the deep sea, like the twilight.
Lu Shiyu said, you can tell me what you are unhappy about, but since I can't go out, I won't tell others.
Ji Tang smiled. She hadn't really smiled in a long time.
This is a story about how two trapped girls, inside and outside a closed door, get closer and break down each other's walls little by little. There is no grand redemption, only day after day visits, a bottle of "twilight" blue ink, a pot of dying pothos, and those words that cannot be spoken but are finally heard.
She was her only visitor. She was the only person she wanted to see.
When the iron door finally opened, the world outside was even more terrifying than the inside. What they have to face is not "will you get better?" But - when you no longer have to be locked up, will you come to me?
Some encounters in this world are not for healing, but to tell you: you are not alone.
Intention: In the lonely wall, meet each other's light.
