In the troubled times of the Republic of China, in a small town in the south of the Yangtze River, the actor Muzhili and his mute girl depended on each other for life. One of his operas brought out the sound of the flute that has not stopped for ten years at the end of the alley; a flute contains thoughts of protection that span life and death.
Ji Changping searched for him and protected him for ten years, but in the end he could not wait for peace. He used his life to protect him for the rest of his life, so he used the opera as a sacrifice and the flute as his memory. He sang the last song for him on the stage and burned away all the tenderness and hatred in the troubled world.
In the silent place of love, in the place of sorrow, I play the flute to worship the king, and meet again in the next life.
The idea: to protect and run in both directions in troubled times, to sacrifice life and drama to fulfill a deep love that spans ten years.
