Everyone in the village said that Hua Chaolu was a fool. But her limbs are sound and she can eat three meals a day. She will run home when it rains, eat when she is hungry, add clothes when she is cold, and sleep when she is sleepy.
She is just easily deceived.
When she was five years old, Hua Chaolu was tricked out of the village by a human trafficker who said he would take her to the capital to watch the lanterns. She happily followed her, but she got tired not long after leaving the village and made a fuss about going home. The trafficker revealed his true colors. A wandering monk happened to be passing by and rescued her. Seeing that her soul was incomplete, he sighed and thought, "Whether she will be enlightened in the future depends on luck." Then he took her back to the village, sent her home, and then drifted away.
When she was ten years old, a salesman gave her a candied haws of sugarcane in exchange for a bucket of rice. When the family was cooking, they found that half of the rice was missing. That was enough food for the whole family for several days! This black-hearted salesman! Her father got angry and beat her. There were still about ten days before the rice could be harvested. My father calculated the rations the family would need and went to borrow 50 kilograms of rice from the local elder's house. After only two days of eating, the prodigal gave away less than half of it!
In the summer when she was twelve years old, she went to the mountain to cut firewood. When she bundled the firewood and carried it down the mountain, she lost her balance and rolled down with her and the firewood. It was almost dark before she returned home, so her mother took her brother up the mountain to look for her. They found her lying under a tree on the mountainside, and the bundle of firewood had rolled to the foot of the mountain. Gradually, her family members discovered that she no longer seemed stupid, but had become weird.
Three years later, the wandering monk passed by this place again and saw Hua Chaolu. He found that her soul was complete. It seemed that she had some good fortune. After staying for one night, she continued to wander.
