Gu Xuulu has a secret.
He lived in Building 68 of Xingfu Community. He turned off the lights every night, sat on the balcony, and spied on a woman in Building 58 opposite.
She's always around late at night. Wearing black lace underwear and a pair of tight jeans, she walked barefoot in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Sometimes I hold a cigarette in my hand, and the extinguishing light is the only warmth in the night.
He had never seen her face, but he felt that he loved her.
Jiang Tang also has a secret.
He lives in Building 58 of Xingfu Community. He turns off the lights every night and sits on the balcony, waiting for the man in Building 68 opposite to turn off the lights.
He didn't know the man was looking at him. He just felt that having someone with him awake late at night made him feel less lonely.
When he wears women's clothes, his name is Tang Tang, and when he is not wearing women's clothes, he is a cardiologist at Dongke Hospital. He has a neurotic mother, a father who committed suicide, a past that he doesn't want to recall, and a desire that he doesn't know how to name.
He longs to be seen. And afraid of being seen.
This is a story about peeping and being voyeurized, pretending and being discovered, loving and being loved.
Two people who lived in the same community and had never spoken to each other were broken and mended in their own late nights.
Until one day, they met at the police station in the early morning.
She thought he was a stranger. He recognized her.
He decided not to tell her.
