On a rainy night in Paris, Wen Qingmian takes her students to compete in Paris. After turning down a suitor's confession, she unexpectedly runs into Ji Chaofei, her childhood friend, whom she parted ways with in high school.
She never expects that, in the quiet of the night, Ji Chaofei will use his fake drunkenness to turn into a pathetic puppy, asking her to make their relationship official and hoping to end the decade-long crush he's had on her.
“I've liked you for a long time. I can't wait any longer. Could you please give me a chance?”
But his sudden confession seems to have... scared her...
“Ji Chaofei, have you lost your mind?”
After she turns him down: “You're such a cold, heartless woman... I don't want to live anymore...”
The next second: “You have to be patient when you're pursuing someone. There's nothing wrong with a guy shedding a couple of tears.”

Wen Qingmian thinks whatever is between them will end there, but Ji Chaofei is as resilient as a cockroach. The more setbacks he faces, the more determined he gets, and her rejection doesn't faze him at all.
Later, an unexpected stage accident forces Wen Qingmian to put her career on hold and return to her hometown for the New Year to recuperate.
She plans to find somewhere quiet to stay for a while before the holiday, hoping to avoid Ji Chaofei. But he suddenly takes all his remaining annual leave and sweet-talks her parents, all so he can go home and look after her while she's ill.
He even insists on tagging along when she goes out to clear her head. He keeps an eye out for rivals and shamelessly struts around like a peacock.
Who could imagine that the aloof CEO everyone sees is a well-behaved little darling around this young woman, and a total goofball to boot?
He'll do anything to win his girl, even throw away his dignity.
Wen Qingmian has hands, but he insists on feeding her medicine.

Wen Qingmian already thinks he's nuts, and after returning to her hometown, she calls him a “lunatic” every day.
Ji Chaofei: “Only the brave get a chance to be loved. Wen Qingmian, I'll be a cockroach that can't be killed, protecting our love every step of the way.”

“Who says you can't see the sun at night? Ji Chaofei proves you can.”
