The "Daliang" dynasty placed equal emphasis on civil and military affairs, but women still regarded their husbands and their children as their ancestral lineage. The imperial power is weak, three kings are competing for the throne, aristocratic families are at odds with poor families, and foreign enemies in the north invade the border all year round. The heroine Shen Zhao, as an orphan, tears down the barriers to power defined by blood and gender, and redefines "what is noble about a woman."
