Introduction to "Summer sinks into the horizon"
In the summer of 1989, a fishing boat named "Kinshio Maru" docked at an inconspicuous Japanese fishing village.
Tono Izumi is seventeen years old. When she was seven years old, a fire took away her father and brother. She survived and lived alone in the old house, writing down the unspeakable words on manuscript paper. People in the village called her "Fire Ghost", but she never defended herself.
Kaito Hase is eighteen years old. He is a child picked up from the sea by the captain. He has no hometown and grew up on a fishing boat. In his world there are only tides, schools of fish and an endless horizon.
That summer, he walked into her old house. It wasn't out of sympathy, it was just that he wanted to see clearly those eyes that were always covered by a layer of fog.
He took her to see the fish in the crevices of the reef after low tide, to listen to the sound of blood flowing through the ears from the conches, and to help her trim her net in the evening before the typhoon came. He is clumsy and stubborn in his approach, and when his inner thoughts are revealed, he will be harsh-spoken, his ears will turn red, and he will say "it's because of the sun". She never took the initiative, but she didn't push away either.
It took them a whole summer to go from stranger to familiar. No one says they like it, but every moment of silence says it.
On the night of the fireworks display, fireworks exploded above their heads, filling the sky with light.
