The two monuments stand side by side, like two people standing side by side, looking in the same direction.
Many years later, the old people in Chang'an City will still tell that story to their children. Speaking of the prosperity of the Cheng'an rule, the imperial husband who created the prosperous age side by side with the emperor, and the Emperor Wu Zhao who spent his whole life guarding one person and remembering that person every day for the rest of his life.
"The two of them," the old people sat under the ginkgo tree in autumn, squinting and looking into the distance, "when they were alive, they conquered the world together. After they die, they will sleep next to each other."
"It's like we've never been apart."
The children were confused when they heard it, but they always felt that it was a very good story, so good that it made people want to cry.
The evening breeze blew through the imperial mausoleums, and the ginkgo trees in front of the two tombs rustled. Golden leaves fell all over the ground, one next to another, as if someone had spread an endless brocade quilt between heaven and earth.
In the distance, there seemed to be magpies flying across the sky, flying to no one knows where.
It seems not.
There is only the sound of wind and silence.
Intention: Mountains and rivers will decay, dynasties will change, but only people are willing to light up the night for each other.
