The elder Conre, a junior vassal of Count Robert de Mortens, brother of Guillaume the Conqueror, Duke of Normann and King of Albion by the grace of God, second son of Guillaume the Conqueror's mother who was his mistress, died.
The old man left behind a legitimized illegitimate son, only fifteen years old, of whom Robert de Mortens was to be his lord and guardian until he came of age.
