New to the company and just starting out in a ground-level training role, Yan Wenzhi is secretly sabotaged by Liu Xianxian, her father’s lover. Tao Xinyi had looked relaxed and composed, but at those words her expression instantly turns cold and her pupils widen. For a moment, time seems to stop. Then she pauses, puts on a carefree smile, and says, “Don’t flatter yourself. She was only playing around with you for a while.”
Liu Changqing is momentarily at a loss for words, then turns away and scoffs, letting her pent-up frustration out. She isn’t angry at Tao Xinyi’s provocation so much as at her stubborn refusal to see the truth. In the end, she sighs, still unwilling to let it go: “I can’t tell whether she’s that good at playing people or you’ve lost your mind!”
