Ren Hezheng guarded this land for twenty years. His father died here and his mother died here. When he was seven years old, he hid in the jungle for three days. When he came out, he was the only one left. He didn't leave, he stayed and turned himself into the strongest person in this land.
Twenty years later, a band from Beijing performed for a charity to call for world peace, but encountered rebels and war. The band's lead singer Ruan Mingye finished the song amidst gunfire without running or stopping.
She said, "My father has been doing Doctors Without Borders for twenty years and he believes that people need to go to places where no one wants to go." I don't have his hands, I only have a guitar, so sing until someone hears me.
Many things happened in this land later.
War reporters used cameras to record the forgotten truths. The band wrote an album for this land that was heard all over the world. Some people exchanged two legs for half a month of peace, and some people exchanged their lives for images that cannot disappear.
Everyone did the little things they could, and every little thing paid a big price.
And in the deepest darkness, they still believe that light will come.
Even if they can't see that day themselves.
