My own take on xianxia, with a mountain of original worldbuilding
After more than a decade of hard study, Wei Changfeng placed third in the imperial examinations. Before he could put his ambitions into practice, he died an unremarkable death and was transported to the cultivation world, where he became the universally admired genius senior brother of the Guixu Sect.
The Heavenly Dao told him that this world had a supervillain: Miss Yan Yunshu of the Yan clan. It also said that one day she would fall to demonic cultivation and attack the Guixu Sect, leaving no one alive.
Having already died once, Wei Changfeng had no reason to want to die again, so he agreed to help the protagonist kill the villain.
But Wei Changfeng couldn't help noticing that this villainess was rather different from the bloodthirsty fiend the Heavenly Dao had described.
Wei Changfeng looked at Yan Yunshu, who was badly injured but still holding an innocent child protectively in her arms. He looked again.
He thought: What kind of villain would be so compassionate? My junior sister is clearly resilient and kind!
