In the United States in the early 1940s, the shadow of war had just dissipated, and the world was trying to re-establish order on the scorched earth. New York, this always noisy city, has become the intersection of hope and decadence, ideals and desires.
This is a crazy time, the old world order is collapsing and new beliefs have not yet been established. Young people are drifting in the cracks of chaotic times. They question authority, defy tradition, and use alcohol, rock, sex and literature to build temporary shelters for themselves. They are confused, passionate, stupid, brave, and most importantly, they are young.
