"Hometown Flowers" tells the story of 35-year-old Su Wantang who quit his job to sell his house after a high fever. He came to Qiyun Town with the notes left by his grandfather and lived in a small courtyard near the lake. She started by going to the market, borrowing salt, turning the soil, and sowing seeds, and gradually got to know the neighbors such as Sister He, Lao Chen, Teacher Li, and Teacher Zhao. She also re-perceived time among roses, narcissus, hollyhocks, ginkgo, and flowers of the four seasons. The novel describes rural daily life, neighborhood warmth and self-repair with delicate and soothing writing: a person who has been hollowed out by urban life learns to take root again and regains the weight and meaning of life in the soil, the smell of rice, the sound of rain and the blooming of flowers.
Purpose: To write about modern people's self-repair and re-rooting among the flowers of the four seasons and the daily life in the countryside.
