Carol had a dream. In the near future, her mother would die of illness, her father would be stripped of his title, and she would be betrayed by her best friend and thrown into the countryside far away from Manchester. She would eventually fall into depression and commit suicide by taking medicine.

She desperately wanted to stop all of this, and gradually she discovered that everything she would experience in the future seemed to be inseparable from her little uncle who always had a cold face, as well as the down-and-out illegitimate son she picked up from an unknown family, and the heir to the Collins family who always looked at her coldly. They also seemed to play an important role in the story.
