Love Becomes Poetry

"Love Becomes a Poetry" is a youth growth narrative set in the countryside of southwestern Henan from 2007 to 2008. The story revolves around Rong Jing and Xin Qi, fifth grade students in Rongying Village Primary School. The two left-behind teenagers spend their time together day and night, establishing a pure relationship that goes beyond friendship but never crosses the line. Their stories, without a word of "like", are scattered among the chrysanthemum garden in autumn, bonfires in winter, afternoon cycling under the sunset at the temple fair, and the dust of the pine tree monument garden when the earthquake struck. This is a heartbeat that happened before "sensible". It is an enlightenment about "beauty" that two children completed together in the fields, classrooms and gaps in their growth with the most authentic kindness, bravery and poetry - all the proximity is hidden under the most ordinary names: monitor and study committee member, front and back desks, fellow travelers, children from family friends. There is not a single "I love you" in the whole book, but every page is soaked with beauty. I remember when we were young, everyone would say something sincerely. Those days when the sun shines slowly and you can only love one person in your life are all in this book. This is not only an emotional record of a young boy's ignorance, but also a detailed picture of rural China under the wave of urbanization. The separation of families caused by the migrant labor wave, the silent persistence of the left-behind elderly, the work and festivals in the fields, and the national memory intertwined with the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake and the Beijing Olympics have all left a deep imprint on the growth trajectory of the two children. When each other regards each other as an example of personality perfection and self-growth, instead of possessing and demanding - we see not only friendship, but also beyond friendship, the most beautiful attachment in human nature. This is a story that truly grows out of the soil, beyond the labels of "left-behind children" and "migrant families." It is formed from the author's personal experience, with clean and restrained brushstrokes and sincere and pure emotions. Just like the poem in the book - "When flowers bloom again, people are no longer young", the time that can't be returned and the unspeakable feelings are engraved word by word between the pages, like the young man's love but restraint of etiquette, like the increasingly bright morning light at the end of the railway track outside the window.
