When Lin Chi met Shen Yushi, he didn't understand what liking meant.
He only knew that he was used to this person's existence - used to him taking a detour every day to deliver breakfast, used to the bottle of water he handed over after the game, used to his lies when he said "on the way", used to the light in his eyes when he looked at him.
Lin Chi accepted it all, as a matter of course, with peace of mind.
He would even laugh and say, "He's my best friend" when asked.
Shen Yushi also laughed after hearing this, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.
Later, Shen Yushi disappeared, as clean as if he had never appeared before.
It was in the third year when Lin Chi was sorting out old things that he discovered the diary hidden on the innermost shelf of the bookshelf. There is only one sentence written on the title page:
"If you finally get enlightened one day, remember to come to me. But I know you won't."
He turned to the last page, the date being the day before his wedding.
It says——
"Forget it, don't wait any longer."
Lin Chi held the diary and finally learned what it meant to feel distressed.
But when he learned it, he had already lost the person who taught him all this.
Intention: "He uses loss in exchange for learning."
