Lin Qi served as Wen Yining's stand-in for five years.
Five years ago, Wen Yining's Bai Yueguang Rongruo went abroad for her career. Wen Yining was so drunk that night that she cornered Lin Qi in the garage, pinched her chin and said, "You look so much like her."
The next day, a contract was placed in front of Lin Qi: to be Wen Yining's substitute girlfriend, five million a year. Accompany her to attend events, ward off scandals, and deal with forced marriages from her family. You can't be tempted or interfere with Bai Yueguang's affairs. The contract will be automatically terminated when it expires.
Lin Qi signed. Because she needs money, and also because - she has been tempted for a long time.
In the past five years, she has lived her life as Wen Yining's shadow. Wen Yining didn't like others touching her, but Lin Qi did. On nights when Wen Yining had insomnia, he could only fall asleep with Lin Qi by his side. Lin Qi thought that five years was enough for Wen Yining to distinguish between her and Rongruo.
She was wrong.
On the day Rongruo returned to China, Wen Yining went to the airport to pick him up in person. At the homecoming banquet that night, she held Rongruo's hand and said six words to Lin Qi in front of everyone:
"I won't need you anymore."
Lin Qi nodded with a smile, took out the yellowed contract from his bag, and tore it into pieces in front of Wen Yining.
"Mr. Wen, the contract is terminated."
The next day, Lin Qi's workstation was empty, the phone was shut down, and the rental house was vacated. Clean, as if it had never existed.
Wen Yining thought she would be relaxed. But on the third day, she woke up in the office late at night and subconsciously called Lin Qi's name, but no one answered. She went to her usual restaurant and ordered Lin Qi's favorite dishes. Halfway through the meal, she remembered that she didn't like these, but Lin Qi was the one who did.
Rongruo looked at her and said something that made her collapse: "What you order is her taste. You love her, not me."
Wen Yining looked through the photos taken over the past five years and found that Lin Qi was always standing half a step behind her. Always smiling, always blocking her drink, always turning around and leaving when she says "no need".
Three months later, it rained heavily.
Wen Yining found Lin Qi at the door of her new company, soaked to the skin and with red eyes:
"I was wrong. It's not because you look like her, it's because you are you."
Lin Qi held an umbrella and spoke in a calm tone, as if he was discussing a business deal:
"Mr. Wen, the stand-in contract has been terminated. Want to renew? Queue up again."
Concept: Love is not a substitute, everyone is unique.
