Twenty-one-year-old Shi Chu is a senior student in the Department of Mathematics at Nankai University. She has a broken family: her biological father Yan Mingzhi divorced and disappeared after getting married, her mother remarried Feng Jianguo, her stepfather cheated on her with Zhang Yao and gave birth to her sister Feng Ruxing, and they eventually divorced. Her grandfather and grandmother passed away one after another, and she was used to bearing everything alone since she was a child.
Shi Chu discovered that her stepbrother Feng Xia had been stealing her underwear for a long time, and even stole two-year-old Ruxing's. She once told her mother, but at the time there was a lot of turmoil at home over the affair, so no one paid attention.
